HISTORY “EVA” – THE BEGINNING When Battistella Guerrino founded the homonymous company 34 years ago, he decided to name his first machine “Eva” (Eve): it was a challenge, the beginning of an adventure.
Having left a company which manufactured ironing boards and which soon went bankrupt due to financial problems, Guerrino decided to try and build his own fortune. Relying on the experience gained in the previous years as a repairer and assembler, together with his talent and imagination in making machinery, he founded his company and prepared to create his first ironing board: Eva.
It was 1975, a new life began, full of sacrifices and marked by hours and hours of hard work in his home basement.
Guerrino carefully studied the plans of his first model and personally provided to its realization in its every detail and constructional phases, from the cutting and bending of the sheet metal to the painting and assembly.
At his side, always supporting and helping him, was his wife Amabile who machine-sewed the cloth covers to fit on the boards. Guerrino designed, sold and delivered his first ironing boards. The delivery of a board was pride and joy for his son Daniele (now the company owner) who had just started elementary school, as well as a pleasant trip with dad, who rewarded his precious help with a good sandwich ….. old time flavour.
CELESTIAL BODIES AND MITHOLOGY
The commitment and zeal were rewarded. “Eva “ had a great success and very soon the range was widened. Many other boards were manufactured, to which Guerrino always gave something of himself: Sagittarius” (his zodiacal sign), Vaporino which combined Vapor (steam) with Rino (Guer-rino) and which is still being produced but with a revised design…. and from there onwards a whole range of models with astrological or mythological names, which as years went by widened more and more (Mercury, Venus, Neptune, Uranus, Andromeda, Argus etc.)
In 1983 business grew and the one-man company became a family business. The basement was a scenario of a more rational and organized activity, where there was a small assembly line. A few years later there was a significant improvement with the purchase of a 300 square meter warehouse. Daniele started working full time. In 1984 Paolo joined in and took care of the assembly and testing of the machines and is now in charge of the production line.
Those were years during which many knitwear factories and clothing industries sprung up. It became necessary to widen the range of products to satisfy the requests of a clientele which was becoming wider and wider.
The first models of blowing boards and bigger steam generators were therefore made, mainly to meet the requirements of small and medium industries which proliferated in the North East.
THE TURNING POINT The market was rich and the requests were not short, but Battistella sensed that it was best to widen its horizon and extend the range of customers. In 1992 the company was named Battistella Guerrino & C s.n.c. It was an important year because it marked the development of foreign markets. The first two foreign countries to place their trust in the BG trademark were Germany and Egypt. In those years Battistella achieved important results: in particular it won the “Gold medal for technical engineering” from the Chamber of Commerce of Vicenza in 1993, as well as the “Gold medal for export achievements” in 1996.Nowadays it trades with over 40 countries worldwide. As the company grew during the following years, a labour subdivision took place. A foreign trade office was set up in order to satisfy the many heterogeneous requests of the customers. The co-operation between the foreign trade office and the technical department allowed the creation of new models (spot removers and boards), also exhibited in the new show-room. New offices and a second warehouse were also built.
PRESENT In March 2003 the company’s name changed into BATTISTELLA B.G. S.r.l. and at present it has an 8000 square metre covered area where the warehouse and offices are based. The large warehouse allows the storage of high quantities of machines and their prompt delivery. Production is backed up by sophisticated working tools and equipped with inspection tables where the machines undergo strict electrical testing.
High levels of efficiency have been achieved in the ironing field but also in other sectors such as in the goldsmith (for the cleaning of metals), dental (for the
One of the main features that has always characterized Battistella is the spirit of change and innovation, as well as technological research which can assure excellent performance and low consumption.
The technical office is constantly working in order to achieve new models and update and re-style existing ones.
Nowadays Battistella manufactures a vast range of semi-professional and industrial products such as ironing boards, steam generators, spot removers, dummies, toppers, presses ……
Thirty years of experience have enabled B.G. to be a well known brand both in Italy and abroad, but its success is also certainly characterized by the excellent quality of the product (which is assembled exclusively with Italian components), by its reliability and versatility and the fact that it respects the international safety rules.
A YOUNG AND HARMONIOUS TEAM Today Daniele “pulls the reins” of the company. He manages the sales and marketing departments and, with skill and commitment, leads a versatile team inside which everyone has the opportunity to develop their own ability. Continuous commitment of every single person and the co-operation between the various departments are the foundations of an efficient and experienced company, where every initiative is welcomed with determination and enthusiasm. All this has been achieved thanks to a dynamic and harmonious team, still young after thirty years!!!!! |
